What to Gift Your Toddler on Their Birthday

[AD – Gifted] This post contains gifted item(s).

When it comes to choosing a birthday present, it can be an overwhelming experience; throw a fussy toddler into the mix and you’ve got one tremendous task on hand, especially if you want the big day to go without a hitch! I’m currently sailing in that boat, and after scouring through various sites (thank God for online shopping!) and circling multiple toy aisles in different stores, I had no idea what to buy my toddler.

I contemplated asking her what she’d like as a gift, but from past experience I knew the answer would change every time or it would involve something out of this world quite literally (she wanted a star once…) So, I did what I usually end up doing and decided to opt for something safe – you know, the usual; a colourful play dough set complete with an assortment of cutters (some of which would most likely end up in the rubbish bin due to how hazardous they looked) as well as a small art set (which would also most likely end up in the bin because of how hard my little one presses down!) But, it was better than nothing, right?

Still undecided about the birthday gift I had purchased for my toddler, I was surprised to see an email in my inbox from Hippychick wanting to collaborate with me – I mean, how perfect was the timing? Hippychick was founded in 1999 by Julia Minchin with a commitment to discovering and developing innovative and original products that are truly beneficial for parents and children alike. The first ever product, a back saving Hipseat, helped Hippychick blossom into a booming business. It now retails a range of luxury toys and gifts that you’ll want to treasure for years to come as well as new products which have been created by the team at Hippychick to make parents’ lives easier!

Personally, I really admire how Hippychick have continuously supported causes close to their hearts all around the globe – till date they have partnered with The Childhood Tumour Trust, Route 1 Advocacy, Brainwave, Love Musgrove, the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland and many more! The team at Hippychick are also determined to make the business as sustainable as possible, which has included retailing products made from natural materials, replacing the plastic in packaging to recycled cardboard and Kraft paper, moving much of the manufacturing closer to home as well as consolidating their suppliers in the Far East and purchasing shipments in larger quantities but less frequently to reduce their carbon footprint. I mean, what’s not to love?

Moving on, after looking through the various items they had in stock, I settled on the Classic World Rocking Pounding Bench, Classic World Cutting Fruit Set and Jim the Dog as a birthday gift. Let’s get onto why these toys make the ideal gifts for toddlers:

Classic World Rocking Pounding Bench

Have a budding builder in the house? This Pounding Bench includes six colourful pegs and a wooden hammer. Not only is it great to develop your little one’s hand and eye coordination but it’s also useful to improve their strength. The best thing about this toy is if your little one has grown tired of it, you can simply turn it upside down so it rocks side to side to make the game even more challenging and fun!

Classic World Cutting Fruit Set

There’s nothing like getting your chef’s hat on! This Classic World Set comes with a fruit or vegetable variety alongside a wooden chopping board and play knife. This toy is sure to become a firm favourite in the toy box because not only is it handy for familiarising your little one with the various fruits on offer to them but it’s also pretty fun to improve their motor skills on!

Jim the Dog

You simply can’t go wrong with a soft toy, can you? This lovely plush toy has all the hallmarks of being a lifelong treasured item and something your little one will surely cherish. It’s made from Nattou’s signature soft and snugly fabric and is also machine washable; perfect for any accidents. There are also many other characters to choose from, so be sure to have a look!

  1. Great post! I purchased a cutting wood set for my toddler because they were using one in her class and she really wanted one for home. Now at 4 she can use a dinner knife to cut sandwiches, etc. (I was so scared to let her cut anything with a real knife because I didn’t want her to get hurt!)
