Seasonal Activities to Entertain Your Kids in 2023

Start the year off right by planning activities that can keep your kids entertained throughout the year no matter what season it is. Here is a range of seasonal activities that are perfect to plan in 2023.

Summer Holidays

First up on the list is a summer holiday. Taking your kids on a summer adventure to places in or out of the UK is a great way to keep them entertained. Make an itinerary of fun activities that you can enjoy as a family for the most excitement. However, don’t just stop at the destination – make the travel fun too! Pack a bunch of activities to do whilst driving or flying to avoid boredom or alternatively, task your kids with creating a journal of the entire trip including pictures and diary entries. It’s the perfect fun for everyone!

Camps

When the half-term is approaching, you may be considering enrolling your child or children in half-term camps. Camps are relatively new to the UK, but they’ve been hugely successful as a way for children to build on their soft skills, make great memories with new friends and even learn new skills it’s a fantastic way to keep your kids entertained during each half-term holiday. Camps are great for getting your kids moving, building confidence, gaining independence, exploring talents and interests, developing academic skills, and so much more. It’s also the best form of childcare for those who work full time!

Cooking & Baking

Planning a cooking and baking day once a week can be a great way to keep your kids entertained. And the best thing is, this is an activity you can do in every seasonal! Let your kids choose from a selection of recipes that you have ingredients for, or alternatively find a recipe and go shopping for the ingredients together. If your child can read, get them to read the instructions from the recipe and work through them together. Getting your child involved in as much as possible is a fun activity that will keep them entertained and can even set them up with a lifelong interest in food and cooking.

Have a Treasure Hunt

Treasure hunts are a great way to keep your kids entertained in 2023 and are also great for when you need a break to carry out your own tasks. Arranging a treasure hunt can keep your kids entertained for a couple of hours to find the hidden treasure in the house or garden. You don’t have to spend a lot on the treasure, any little treat will be exciting when it’s found!

Go On Walks

Exploring the great outdoors can be super entertaining for your kids! Not only is the walk fun, but you can also set a purpose for your kids to collect certain foliage or seek out different types of bugs, plants or trees. Alternatively, give them a map to plan the route which gives them control meaning they won’t get bored too easily. Walks are a great way to get some exercise whilst enjoying nature and can be a family favourite any time of the year.

Jewellery Making

An indoor activity that’s perfect for the colder months is jewellery making. Arrange a table full of beads, jewels and stones and let your child run free with their imagination to create beautiful pieces for themselves, their friends or family. Make sure to get appropriately sized beads for different age groups and show off their creations at the end!

Have a Chill Day

Sometimes, the activity that will best keep your kids entertained is a chill day at home. Your kids will need some downtime, so plan days where you can simply relax, watch movies, read books and take it easy.

Gardening

During Spring and Summer, there’s a lot of opportunity to tend the garden or plant fruit and vegetables. This is a great way to keep kids entertained and can encourage taking more responsibility to help the plants grow. It also gives a great feeling of success when your fruit or vegetables are ready to eat! Getting outdoors to help with gardening has many benefits for kids, including reducing stress, getting closer to nature, encouraging sensory development, encouraging healthy eating and much more.

On a final note, planning activities to entertain your kids during the holidays may seem like a huge task, but the truth is even the simplest of things can keep them occupied for hours – just use your imagination or let them take the lead!
